sculpture was made by Mary Seppilu from Savoonga on St.
Lawrence Island, Alaska in the mid
1990's, and retains an essence not often seen in any work, from any place or
time. The large team and sled is riding across a solid Walrus Tusk.
It's a evocative image and a very animated sculpture - the dogs look tired
with all their tongues hanging out! Note the scrimshaw along the sides of
the base.
