| Description: | Each of the seals has a
flatfish built into it's body - these fish are actually separate
pieces of jewelry that can be removed and worn as earrings.
The story of the origin of this piece is as follows (paraphrased, with bad words deleted): One time, Denise Wallace was with family Halibut fishing in the cold waters near Cordova, Alaska. Denise hooked a big one, and was hauling it in when a seal grabbed it from her hook, stealing her catch. This moment of frustration is captured in this piece—note the angry face between the two seals, and their bellies full of flatfish (Halibut). You can get the seals back, though, by taking the fish out of their bellies and wearing them as earrings!!! |
