Dear friends;
Among the most impressive elements of our Gallery display
is our selection of fine furnishings from Dorset Custom Furniture. These custom-made pieces
are samples of the creations made by Dan Mosheim and his crew right here in our
neighboring town of Dorset, Vermont. Over the last fifteen years or so, many of our
customers have had the great pleasure of working with Dan to create the most important
furniture in their homes. We know that you're in good hands working with Dan, and we
encourage you to ask us questions about his furniture, or contact him directly at his
email address below.
You can learn a lot about his portfolio by going through his website
at http://www.dorsetcustomfurniture.com
. While visiting Dan's site, take the time to 'click' on photos and learn the story of the creative processes
involved in the furniture. If you really want to see a large selection of work,

The pieces you'll see below are ones that we've enjoyed
here at our shop, before they found a permanent place in someone's home. We
hope you enjoy them as a "teaser" for the kind of piece that might add to
your home. You'll find Dan's prices to be highly competitive, and
the quality of work is uncompromising. Call with some of your own ideas and
needs, and we'll get you an accurate price and time quote. |

| CURLY MAPLE CONSOLE
This is one of the pieces we typically put in galleries and
shows. Long and thin. This one is 18" by 53" by 29" high.
Curly maple and black paint with traditional turned legs and trapezoid inlays. Nice
curly maple on the top.
|
CHERRY CONSOLE
This is another version of the console table with a really dark cherry top and dark curly
maple aprons. It has a burl and ebony bar inlay and a dark, rich feel.
18" x 60" x 29" high.
|
 |
DAN'S DESK
This is one of my somewhat standard desks... 26 x 52 x 29 in curly cherry and
black. The top is two beautiful, matched curly cherry boards about 13" wide.
The drawers are about 2½" by 22 wide, the turnings, my standard, traditional angled
ones. You can create a custom desk using this one as a template. Change the
legs, the wood type or color, the edge inlay, longer, shorter, deeper. . . you get the
idea.

DAN'S DINING TABLE

This table is made from three matched boards all more than a foot
wide. They're from my Pennsylvania supplier and they have excellent color, grain
and figure. The edge inlay is a relatively new pattern for me. It's made from
maple, ebony and bubinga. The table overall is about 40 x 80 x 29½" high.

STUDIO STYLE WINDSORS
These Bobbin-leg Windsors work well in both a traditional or
contemporary setting. These are painted flat-black, but are available in
colors of your choice. Lifetime guarantee on the chairs.

EMPIRE DELUXE
This is a great table. 20" x 42" x 32"
high. The top is Champlain Black Vermont Marble. Formed 400 million years
ago in the Lake Champlain Basin, it's the same marble that covers the front of Radio City
Music Hall in New York City. The base design is actually a measured copy of an
antique Vermont table loaned to me by my friend Judd Gregory, a local antique dealer.
He thought he might like one like it and left it with me to measure for future
reference. When I finished measuring, I just ordered the marble and hauled out the
curly maple; we changed a few details and jazzed it up a little. The original was
birdseye and mahogany, we added the black. I've also made a
longer, more substantial one (52" long) that is in Mahogany. |

AT THE BEACH
I made this table as an exercise in shell inlay; no pun intended
at first. I want to incorporate more mother-of-pearl and abalone in my work and I
have to know how long it will take before I can tell people how much it will cost.
Now I know. . . it takes a long time. Also, I hadn't been to the ocean in a while
and we have these little shells around the house here and there. . . My mind was
just wandering. This is an interesting piece to me; in addition to the shells being
a beach reference, the design of the wave motifs make me somehow think of the circus.
So if you want, call it "The Circus At The Beach". |
 |
LITTLE TIGER TABLE
These boards were cut offs from a 9' dining table we made last year.
Really nice and wide with good consistent figure that you can actually feel
when you rub your hand over it. The table's (18" x 36"). |
 |
 |
| 22 SQUARE
This piece was done for a show where each exhibitor had 22" x 22" to
display their furniture. It has since become one of my favorites and has been
adapted to make other pieces: coffee tables , end tables, and TV cabinets. The
lacewood is from Australia and has a sort of "leathery" quality to it that
looks great with natural cherry and ebony. 16" wide x 22" long x 22"
high.
|
22 SQUARE WITH DRAWER
Another adaptation of the 22 Square. 24" wide by
32" long by 26½" high. The drawer is about 3" deep, and the shelf
is 8" off the floor. Natural cherry and black paint.
